Tupac Shakur

Tupac Shakur is one man that deserves his own post. Tupac was born into a Black Panther family and his rise to fame is something that I admire a lot.

Tupac is arguable the greatest Hip Hop rapper ever. The African American community quickly came to love Tupac because he brought a different style of rap. He called his rap 'real rap' because he rapped about the struggles of growing up on the hood and the racism and violence in America at the time. The song that started this 'real rap' was Brenda's got a baby. He wrote the song after he saw an article about a 12 year old who became pregnant from her cousin and threw the baby into the bin. This caused a lot of controversy but it led to him becoming very popular.

Later in Tupacs career he joined Suge Knights record label called Death Row Records. Tupac was caught up in a 'bank robbery' where he was shoot and had to be brought to hospital. Tupac recovered from this and a few weeks later he was charged for sexual assault after he was framed. While Tupac was in prison his good friend Biggie Smalls released a song called 'Who shot ya'. This started the beef between the two as Tupac knew Biggie knew about him being shot and did nothing about it. 

Unfortunately to the Hip Hop community and all of Tupac's fans he was killed in a drive by shooting in September 1996 after Tupac and his gang jumped a rival gang member in a casino.

The Notorious B.I.G

The Notorious B.I.G also known as Biggie Smalls was another iconic Hip Hop artist who's music I really enjoy. He grew up in New York. Biggie grew up with no father and with a mother that worked two jobs. His song Juicy is about how his life had changed so much from when he was a kid to when he was rapping.  He started rapping when he was a teenager. He made a demo tape that was heard and liked by DJ Mister Cee and The Source. He was fetaured in The Sources article which was about aspiring artists. In 1994 he released his debut album which was called Ready to Die and he became an iconic figure in East coast Hip Hop and he made east coast Hip Hop more noticed as at the time rappers such as Tupac, Dr.Dre and Snoop Doog were making West coast Hip Hop dominant at the time. In June 1996 Tupac released a track called Hit 'Em Up' which was a diss track towards Biggie saying that he had copied his style and image.
